Stockist Spotlight: Skin Solutions Canberra
Skin confidence is often built in the consultation room, through thoughtful questions, clear education and a treatment plan that feels personal to the client in front of you.
In this Stockist Spotlight, we speak with Mel, owner of Skin Solutions Canberra, about the clinic’s evidence-led approach, the role of internal skin support and how her team introduces Advanced Nutrition Programme™ as part of a broader conversation about skin health.
From personalised consultation systems to flexible treatment planning, Mel shares practical insight into how education, consistency and clinical purpose shape the Skin Solutions Canberra experience.

Can you tell us a little about your clinic, your client base and what you want to be known for?
Skin Solutions Canberra is a clinic led by Dermal Clinicians and Registered Nurses, dedicated to providing truly evidence-based skin care. Every member of our clinical team has either completed or is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Health Science (Clinical Aesthetics), allowing us to deliver a level of education and clinical expertise that bridges the gap between traditional beauty therapy and dermatology.
Our philosophy is centred around ethical prescribing, comprehensive consultations and treating the person, not just the skin condition. We see a broad range of clients, from those seeking age management and regenerative skin treatments to those living with chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, melasma, rosacea and dermatitis. We aim to create a welcoming environment where clients feel educated, empowered and supported throughout their skin journey.
What has been working well in your business over the past 6-12 months?
Our client-centred consultation process has been one of the biggest contributors to our success. We take the time to understand each client’s medical history, lifestyle, nutrition, gut health, stress levels and skin goals before recommending a treatment plan.
We also have a strong focus towards improving the skin’s structural integrity and barrier function before progressing to advanced treatments. This approach has resulted in healthier skin, improved treatment outcomes and greater long-term client satisfaction.
What role has Advanced Nutrition Programme™ played in that success?
Advanced Nutrition Programme™ has become an essential part of how we treat the skin holistically.
Skin Omegas+ allows us to support skin health from the inside out by providing the ideal balance of omega-3, omega-6, vitamin A and evening primrose oil. We regularly see improvements in barrier function, hydration, oil quality, skin sensitivity and overall skin resilience. For our age-management clients, it also complements collagen stimulation treatments by improving hydration and reducing the appearance of fine lines.
Skin Clear Biome has become one of our favourite products for clients experiencing acne, rosacea, dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions. With the growing evidence supporting the gut–skin axis, we love being able to address inflammation internally while treating the skin externally. Supporting a healthy gut microbiome has become a key component of many of our treatment plans and often helps us achieve more predictable, sustainable results.

Is there a product, routine or category that has become especially important for your team or clients? For example internal skin support, everyday skin supplement routines, Skin Omegas+, Skin Ultimate or Skin Clear Biome if relevant.
If we could only recommend one supplement, it would be Skin Omegas+. Almost every client can benefit from healthier cell membranes, improved barrier function and better hydration.
For clients with inflammatory skin conditions, we almost always combine Skin Omegas+ with Skin Clear Biome to support both the skin barrier and gut microbiome.
For those undergoing intensive skin revision or regenerative treatment programs, the Skin Ultimate range is invaluable. Providing the nutrients required for collagen synthesis, antioxidant protection and inflammation control helps optimise healing, improve treatment outcomes and maximise long-term results.
How do you introduce skin supplements during a consultation without making the client feel overwhelmed?
We don’t separate internal skin health from external skin health; they’re simply part of the same conversation.
Throughout every consultation, we educate clients on how the skin reflects what’s happening inside the body. Rather than presenting supplements as an optional add-on, we prescribe them as an integral part of the treatment plan alongside home care and in-clinic treatments.
We spend far more time explaining why we’re recommending something than discussing the product itself. Once clients understand the science behind the recommendation, the decision becomes very straightforward.

What does your team do to build confidence with Advanced Nutrition Programme™ recommendations, retail conversations or follow-up?
We don’t see supplements as retail; we see them as part of solving our clients’ concerns.
Our recommendations are always personalised based on what we’re seeing clinically. If a client presents with dryness or barrier impairment, we discuss the importance of essential fatty acids. If they’re experiencing acne or inflammation, we explain the role of the gut microbiome and inflammatory pathways.
Because every recommendation has a clear clinical purpose, the conversation feels educational rather than sales focused.
We also monitor when clients are likely to be running low on their supplements and proactively remind them to reorder, helping them stay consistent with their treatment program.
Is there a simple system, script, display idea, treatment planner or client follow-up habit that has helped you get better results?
Education is everything.
When clients understand the physiology of the skin and the connection between the gut and skin, they become invested in their treatment plan.
Our consultations focus on helping clients understand why we’re prescribing each recommendation. Once they understand the science and how each component contributes to their results, compliance naturally improves. It’s no longer a retail conversation; it’s simply prescribing what their skin needs.

What is one challenge you have worked through recently as a clinic owner or team, and what helped?
Like many clinics, we’ve seen clients become more conscious of their spending.
Rather than compromising on outcomes, we’ve adapted by creating flexible treatment plans that allow clients to continue progressing toward their goals within their budget. This may involve spacing treatments further apart, choosing smaller treatment options or placing a greater emphasis on home care and internal skin support.
We’ve also found that treatment memberships make advanced skin care much more accessible. Bundling professional treatments with home care and nutritional support helps clients stay consistent, which ultimately delivers better long-term results.
What would you suggest another stockist try if they wanted to grow Advanced Nutrition Programme™ in a practical, compliant and education-led way?
Take the time to truly understand the science behind the products.
When you know exactly how each supplement works, which clients will benefit most and the evidence supporting its use, recommending it becomes completely natural.
It’s no longer about selling supplements, it’s about prescribing the right tools to help your clients achieve better, longer-lasting results.
Is there anything else you would love to share with the Margifox Distributors stockist community?
Never stop learning.
The skin industry is evolving rapidly, and staying curious, evidence-based and ethical is one of the greatest investments you can make.
When we focus on education, clinical excellence and genuinely putting the client’s best interests first, recommending internal skin health becomes second nature and our clients achieve the results they deserve.
