Top 5 Summer Revival Skin Care Tips

Top 5 Summer Revival Skin Care Tips

Whether your clients were home or away, wore plenty of sunscreen and even made good use of the shade, chances are they picked up some excess UV exposure over summer and are now paying the price. Here are our top five summer skincare revival tips to help reveal healthy, glowing skin:

1. Exfoliate

A gentle exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, to assist in refining the texture of rough and sun-damaged skin. Exfoliating helps to energise tired looking skin, helping to restore a radiant appearance.

Environ recommendation: Alpha Hydroxy Night Cream, Skin Essentia Clay Masque, Revival Masque, Alpha Toner Forte and Derma-Lac Lotion for an all-over softer and more hydrated skin.

2. Vitamin A

Dr Des Fernandes, founder of Environ, says: “Ageing skin is a direct result of sun-induced vitamin A deficiency. Correct the deficiency and you’ll have more radiant-looking skin.”

Vitamin A is the only scientifically known element that helps to keep skin healthy and combats the effects of ageing. It has been proven that sufficient vitamin A:

  • Promotes the effects of the skin’s natural moisturising factors and gives it a radiant glow
  • Helps to strengthen the effects of the skin’s outer layer to keep it looking firm
  • Helps to support the skin’s immune system to help reduce the development of potential skin cancers.

Environ recommendation: Twice daily application of Skin EssentiA Vitamin A Step-Up Moisturisers 1 - 5 or Youth Essential Vitamin A Serums 1 – 4+. Also for skin that is severely sun-damaged incorporate Intense Retinol Serum 1 or 2 into the evening skin regime to help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and promote a firmer smoother appearance.

3. Protect skin from free radical damage

Boost skin regimes with powerful antioxidant-rich formulations to help protect skin from excess free radical damage caused by the sun. Antioxidants work as free radical scavengers and are the most important part of a sun protection system. By topically applying skin care products with antioxidants, the skin is defended and protected, so that the building blocks of collagen can continue in a normal healthy way.

Environ recommendation: Skin EssentiA Toner, Antioxidant Gel, Intense C-Boost, Vita-Peptide Toner and don’t forget your skincare should not stop at your face – Vitamin ACE Body oil is a top seller for keeping the skin on your body healthy and protected.

4. SPF

It’s not enough to just apply sunscreen - you must apply enough, and apply frequently. Studies indicate that most people do not apply nearly as much SPF protection as they should. How much should you apply? A teaspoon for the face and as much as 30ml for the rest of the body. It is also imperative when out in the sun to reapply every two hours.

Environ recommendation: RAD SPF with added antioxidant protection. Alpha Day Lotion is a great choice for clients who prefer an SPF with a matt finish.

5. Repair and Soothe over-exposed skin

We have all been guilty of forgetting to apply sunscreen, not applying enough or catching more sun than we expected. Sadly, at this point the damage is done, but you don’t have to suffer in pain!

Environ recommendation: Antioxidant Gel, AVST Gel - both have a cooling and soothing effect on the skin, while Colostrum Gel assists in providing essential skin nutrition to severely sunburnt skin to help repair and heal.
